The inaugural women’s Super League kicked off this weekend with all four teams in action.
Castleford Tigers Ladies beat Featherstone Rovers 48-14 in a rigid derby at Willowbridge Lane.
Lucy Eastwood ran riot scoring five tries as the Tigresses picked up their first victory over Rovers. Jasmine Cudjoe and Ellie Lamb were also on the score sheet while England international Katie Hepworth kicked 16 points.
Sarah Dunn and Jasmine Hazel both went over for the visitors who turned up for the match with only 10 players.
Speaking after the game, Castleford’s head coach Lindsay Anfield said:
“I am extremely proud of the girls effort and how far they’ve come this season. It wasn’t a particularly pretty game but we worked hard and managed to get a good result.
“We have a lot to work on but will take a lot of confidence from this win and are definitely going in the right direction.”

Elsewhere, current European Champions Thatto Heath Ladies were beaten 26-32 by Bradford Bulls.
Amy Hardcastle and Shona Hoyle both scored hat-tricks for the Bulls who remain unbeaten this season. Claire Garner also added four goals to make sure of the win.
Danni Bound, Tara Stanley, Rachel Thompson and Faye Gaskin were on the scoresheet for Thatto however, in the end it wasn’t enough to get one over Bradford.
