aside Championship Shield Final: Bradford Bulls 15:00 Sheffield Eagles Preview (Sun)

Adrian Purtell returns to the 19 man squad as the Bradford Bulls look to end an underwhelming season with silverware.

Purtell is expected to make his final appearance for the club as he moves to the London Broncos next season. The Bradford Bulls captain hasn’t featured since August and will be looking to sign off in style this Sunday.

Ethan Ryan will miss the Championship Shield final with an injury. The winger has enjoyed a consistent try-scoring run and will be a big miss for Rohan Smith’s side.

Kurt Haggerty and Epalahame Lauaki both return to the team as youngsters James Bentley and Liam Kirk are left out.

Bradford come into this final following a 36-22 win over the Dewsbury Rams. Meanwhile, the Sheffield Eagles put their off-field troubles to one side and booked their place in the final with a 36-22 win over Halifax.

Sheffield will be looking for retribution as two weeks ago they were thrashed by the Bulls 80-0 at Odsal.

This weekend could potentially turn out to be a very positive one for the Bradford. As the men prepare for Sunday’s Championship Shield showdown, the women will compete in a final of their own this Saturday.

The women’s side will take on Thatto Heath Crusaders in the 2016 Women’s Rugby League Grand Final at Widnes Vikings’ Select Security Stadium.
