World’s finest Badminton players learned their fate earlier today when the draw for the Rio Olympics was made.
Two of the competitors will not only be flying the flag for team GB but they will also be representing the great county of Yorkshire.
Marcus Ellis was born in Huddersfield but in a few weeks’ time, this 26 year old will team up with Chris Langridge to take on the World’s best in the men’s doubles.
Drawn in the same group as Ellis and Langridge is the third seed South Korean team of Kim Gi-Jung and Kim Sa-Rang.
They will be joined by the silver medallists from London 2012, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark. Making up Group C is the Polish team of Adam Cwalina and Przemyslaw Wacha.
Over in the mixed doubles, the popular husband and wife team of Gabrielle and Chris Adcock will face the fourth seeds, Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark.
Joining the Leeds-born Gabrielle and her partner Chris will be the Chinese team of Xu Chen and Ma Jin. Filling the group will be the Polish side of Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba.
